Im primarily a drum and bass MC, ARTIST, whatever you wanna call it, but Ive been performing at gigs over the past five to ten years. Places including Germany, all over Europe, Switzerland even as far out as Australia, New Zealand. Performing alongside DJs like Shy FX, Ronnie Size, people like Goldie.
Ive moved into other areas during the past few years; Ive been in the underground scene for a long time, performing at various raves all over the world. Over the period of time Ive been mcing Ive acquired a lot of underground support and over the past couple of years Ive started to do a more commercial thing. There are a lot of people that have been listening to my form of music, Jungle, Drum & Bass, for a long time. The spectrum of people that listen to me are varied and vast. People from 30 years old, 15-16 even younger, people that are out there now.
My career really took off for me; I would say, in 1996 -97 when I started to get a lot of recognition for my work on cool FM and Raves. Started getting a lot of bookings and started getting a lot of exposure, basically and things started to move from there. As I said, I started on a pirate station Cool FM, which was the biggest underground station at that time, supporting the music in this country at that time and gave us a lot of exposure. Since then, Ive moved on to do a lot of radio shows, on Radio 1, guest shows on kiss FM, Choice FM, things like that. Various regional and national radio stations, so to speak of.
Yeah, what else can I say?
Over the past year or two Ive been working on a lot of music, in the studio, like where we are now. Which is something different for me because I spend so much of my time on the road, in the underground scene performing live. For so many years and after acquiring so many fans and stuff I thought it was a natural progression to get something down and put an album together. To give the people. Like I said, if been putting down tracks for the past two years and started to get a lot of good response from fans and other people, who may not be fans but appreciate and respect the work. So yeah, I would say things are on the up. Ive almost got an album completed, well, to be honest, two, almost three albums completed, and ready to hit the streets over the next year or two.
So where expecting things to change dramatically, Ive got a six week tour coming up real soon. It starts off in America, LA down to Baltimore, down to Buffalo, Minneapolis. Then stopping off at the Miami music conference. Then Im over to Canada, Im there for a week. Im doing Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. And then were off to South East Asia, Bangkok, then to Shanghai. Then off to Australia and New Zealand, Perth. Auckland, Wellington and Christ Church. So thats just to name a few places Ill be doing over the next couple of months, well six week period, starting at the end of March. So yeah, thats all live performances, alongside Drum & Bass DJs, various Drum & Bass DJs like Shy FX , Groove Rider, Goldie, and The Ronnie Sizes. Yeah thatll be the work, on tour.
Back over here, as I said, theres an album Im working on, that does feature a lot of the big name producers that are in the Drum & Bass scene and on the Hip Hop scene and on the Grime scene, Im basically taking things to another level. Doing everything, basically, because over the years Ive been performing , a lot of artists from all scenes are very familiar with who I am, theyve come to Drum & Bass raves, through the years, and are very familiar with what I do. Some look up to me and stuff so weve done a lot of work together, with Hip Hop Artists Grimey Artists, R&B Artists a lot of these people are familiar with who Skibadee is. Just through being out in the underground scene of the last couple of years, so yeah, its been good to work with theses guys. A lot of the guys on the scene right now.
Yeah, things are looking good, as I said, Im performing in a lot more places, around the world, to a lot more people of diversity. Im trying to go to another level, as I said Ive been doing the underground thing for ten years, acquired a lot of experience for live shows and a lot of experience for doing live radio. Also, Ive meet a lot of people , over my time, over the world and so its time to kinda bring it all together and try and put a few albums together and do a few videos and stuff.
The few things I have done, have had a lot of success. Ive had a number one video on Channel U, for four weeks. We won an award for that, best video The Greatest Show , which was featuring FUSION, also SKEME, MC DEE, also DET and SHABBA. A couple guys from the Drum & Bass scene, a couple guys from the Hip Hop scene. The first thing of its kind really, just amalgamating the two energies, in the two kinds of genres, came out with a fantastic track , number one on Channel U for four weeks and won an award for it. Cant really say much more than that, so yeah, its looking good.
